VOUW Lights up Brussels with Chairwave and Bloomlight

This January, VOUW brought its innovative designs to Bright Brussels 2024, illuminating the heart of Belgium's capital with its Chairwave and Bloomlight installations. From January 15th to 18th, the event drew over 500,000 spectators, setting a new attendance record.

Located at the majestic Palais des Académies, five Bloomlights cast their enchanting glow over the park, creating one of the most visually striking settings ever for these pieces. Nearby, in King Leopold Park, an array of 11 Chairwave seats curved gracefully, accommodating a constant flow of visitors and playful children. This installation marked a first with its curved setup, enhancing interaction and engagement among the attendees.

Bright Brussels 2024 highlighted "Europe and its values," a theme chosen to coincide with Belgium’s presidency of the Council of the European Union. VOUW's installations resonated deeply with this theme, offering a space where technology and design meet European ideals of community and connection.

This year's festival not only illuminated the city but also brought international artists and thousands of tourists together, fostering a unique cultural experience. Mingus Vogel, co-founder of VOUW, was featured in a prime-time interview on Belgian news TV (VRT1), where he discussed the impact and design philosophy behind Chairwave.

The installations by VOUW stood out as prime examples of how design can invigorate public spaces, inviting people to interact and reflect on the role of technology in fostering community ties. As noted by Visit.brussels, the success of this year’s festival can be attributed to the artistic creativity and cultural collaboration that Bright Brussels continues to promote.
